SnoopThe Dog Mentor
For families

For children who need a reason to step outside.

One to one mentoring with Sasha and Snoop for children who are home educated, anxious, or not in school right now.

How it starts

Slowly, and on your child's terms.

  1. 1

    A letter from Snoop

With his photo, before you meet. Your child gets to know him first.

  2. 2

    A first meeting outside

A quiet park, a quiet time. Snoop on the lead. No pressure to do anything.

  3. 3

    Small steps at their pace

The venue changes over time so nobody depends on one route or one place.

  4. 4

    Handing over

The goal is a child who needs Snoop less, not more. We plan for that from day one.

What sessions look like

Ordinary things, done together.

  • Walk and talk
Side by side, not face to face. It is easier to talk that way.
  • Teaching Snoop a trick
Your child holds the clicker. They are the teacher for once.
  • Reading to him
He does not correct anyone. He just listens.
  • Breathing with him
Snoop breathing is a box breath. Four in, hold, four out, hold.
  • Being around other people
Other children look at the dog, not at your child. That takes the pressure off.
  • Never a performance
If a session is a bad day, it is a short walk and a stroke. That still counts.

What it is not

Honest about the edges.

This is not therapy and it is not a diagnosis. It is not a replacement for school, and it does not promise to get anyone back into school. It sits alongside whatever else is already in place for your child, and Sasha works with schools and local authorities where one is involved.

What it is: a calm, patient dog, an experienced mentor, and a reason to try something small today.

Practicalities

Where, how long, how much.

  • Where
Parks, your home, community spaces. Wherever your child is most comfortable.
  • How long
45 to 60 minutes. Shorter at the start.
  • How often
Weekly or fortnightly, planned with you.
  • Cost
Guide rate on request, or through a school or local authority arrangement.

Talk to Sasha

Every child is different. Start with a conversation.
