Meeting a dog is a bit like meeting a person. There is a polite way to do it. Here is mine.

Stand still
Stand sideways on, like you are looking at something else. Let Snoop come to you. He likes to decide.
Things Snoop does not like

Breathe with me
When I need to settle, I slow my breathing right down. You can do it too. We call it Snoop breathing.
Breathe in while the circle grows. Hold. Breathe out while it shrinks. Hold. That is one round.
